Clearly backward compatibility in not a strength of Apple software. It is arrogant on Apples part and shows a lack of concern for MAC owners. It's not necessary for a new version of an OS to trash recently updated software. You might restore an older version of OS X 10.xx.x on another volume from time machine. Have you considered dual booting your MAC. So, maybe you'd go back to CNX2? Try it out again? I'm still using CNX2 2.4.7, almost exclusively, and it's lightning fast with the 10.13.2 update! The PSD(s) were recovered as thumbnail but they could be replaced from NEF(s). Sorry I'm rambling on but do your backup. When I partion a new drive I normally power down all my data drives. I lost no JPG files from digital point and shoot cameras. I lost 30 PSD files, 1 TIF and no NEF files. I had a crash while preparing a new boot HD and it took out the master boot records on four HD(s). I have four copies of each photograph on separate HD(s). I have additional bare HD(s) and a docking station. My older iMAC has one internal HD and two Firewire 800 external HD (s). My current Windows box has a boot SSD and four spinning HD(s). I normally boot the first volumn but I can test on the second. I have two OS X 10.11.6 setups on one HD. Now I've only got Win7 bit soon I'll have Win10 and 7. At one time I had WinNT, Win98 SE and Win2K on my boot HD. I have a Windows 7 disk in the draw, and it is tempting when the latest update throws up problems Which software programs have you tried? Which software program are you presently using? Vintage 1953 & wackymoomin edited this topic 69 months ago. You are expected to keep changing up your gear for new I suppose. One day my W7 era PC or some of the old programs won't work. I'm on W10, or about W15, by now, with the constant updates or more realistically new OSs. I'm not expecting Windows to be any better in the long run. Speedlight edited this topic 69 months ago. With a decent budget I'd get a new Windows box and a 13" MAC Book Pro all maxed out. My primary computer is a Win7 SP1, i7 but I also have an older iMAC OS X 10.11.6 which I use a little almost every day so I'm not just a Windows fan boy. Now in apples case they come out with a new OS and a program update just recently doesn't work. I had to do some Tom foolery to get the help files to work but the program itself works flawlessly. The program dates from Windows 95 and was last updated early in days of Windows 98. I'm using a sync program Beach Walker suggested with Windows 7. Buy Apple, update, buy again - that seems to be the preferred route for screwing every last penny out of Apple-fans. I think it's Apple you should be talking too if they keep updating the software in such a way that it won't work with pre-existing software applications. NX-D works fine on my little i5, 128gb SSD, 8gb RAM, Windows 7 Pro laptop. They have no incentives to hire some highschool graduates and get them to write a good program for their NEF files. Nikon would have had to take responsibility for ensuring their software worked if they actually charged for them and if the software was actually profitable for them. I know they are free, and they are that way for a reason. The Soundings: You are wasting your time with Nikon software. There is no mention of the later operating systems. For what it's worth, the Nikon USA website shows that Capture NX-D is supported for OS X 10.7, 10.8, and 10.8. I get spinning beach balls and delays with every slider adjustment. I am also running 10.13.2 with a Late 2015 iMac and Capture NX-D is unusable. You are not the only one having this problem. Let hope that Nikon and Apple can debug the problems. You are not the only one having problems with View NXi, people on the Alamy forum are having the same crashing problems. Heavens, these Groups are not what they were by a long way. What I would like to know first is if anybody else is seeing this problem. Maybe they are aware of the problem and if not maybe your email will get them to react and make software changes. May I suggest you send an email to Nikon and tell them that NX-D and View NX-i are not compatible with 10.13.2. Ummmmm - bit of a difference in price and I am not looking for an alternative. LR and the like are running fine but I was hoping to end my Adobe subscription and then use CNX-D or View NX-i as my image browser and front line editor with DxO for the more complex stuff. There are spinning beach balls everywhere and I have had a lot of lock-ups. CNX-D is running terribly slowly and the lag on the sliders is forever.
